MyMAT®

The Mosquitoes Autocidal Trap, patented by the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) in Malaysia (Patent No.: P120064748), serves to control mosquito breeding by trapping adults and eliminating larvae. This cost-effective and safe solution, made in Malaysia, is user and environmentally friendly. It was a finalist in the 2015 National Innovation Award, requiring no electricity and emitting no odor.

HOW MYMAT® WORKS?
  • MyMAT® trap adult mosquitoes (Aedes, Culex and etc) that want to lay egg or rest in it.
  • After 1-2 weeks, MyMAT® will attract more mosquitos as a breeding and resting place.
  • Mosquitoes that entered into MyMAT® will stick to the surface of sticky ring on the top of the floater.
  • The mosquito that stuck on the sticky ring will not be able to escape and eventually will die.
  • When a mosquito enters into MyMAT®, it will attract other mosquitoes to join in.
  • Even if mosquito managed to lay eggs into the water on the fine mesh net, the larvae will not survive as it will drown due to its larger size and it will not be able to breathe through the fine net in the middle of floater.
OPTIONAL: USAGE OF LARVAE POISON
  1. Larvae extirpator such as Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis) or temephos (Abate) can be used with the dose suggested by the manufacturer.
  2. Research shows that MyMAT® that added with 30mg Bti attracts more mosquitos in comparison with the MyMAT® without the Bti. In addition, Bti usage will ensure that all immature larvae die within the period of 3 months (in condition that the water that contains Bti in the MyMAT® is not disposed).
HOW TO ASSEMBLE MYMAT®?
Step 1: Pour 600ml (approximately equivalent to 4 cups) of water into the base cylinder.
Step 2: Mix 30mg of Bti into the water.
Step 3: Attach the sticky ring on top of floater with the sticky surface facing towards the base opening.
Step 4: Put in the floater and ensure that the surface with the TOP sign should be facing up towards the base opening.
Step 5: Insert the filter and close the lid.
Step 6: Place the MyMAT® on a flat surface, at dark area and common places that mosquitoes can be found.
Step 7: Refill water once every 2 to 3 weeks (outdoor) and 4 to 8 weeks (indoor); and change the sticky rings if it is no longer intact. Please note that the sticky ring is waterproof. MyMAT® can function at a minimum water level.
