WASTE DISPOSAL SPONSORSHIP FOR NKF

PETALING JAYA: THE National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) received sponsorship of sharp containers and clinical waste receptacles from the Medical Apparatus Supplies Sdn Bhd (MASSB) for a period of two years beginning this month.

NKF board of directors chairman Datuk Dr Zaki Morad Mohd Zaher said NKF has been spending about RM500,000 per year just for waste management.

He said this after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MASSB.

“We are truly grateful that MASSB has come forward and provided us with the sponsorship which would help NKF conserve funds that can be used to better benefit the patients,” said Zaki.

“NKF has 28 centres nationwide which provide subsidised dialysis treatment to approximately 1,550 poor and needy patients, and the number is growing annually.”

MASSB executive director Senator Abdul Shukor Mohd Sultan said the sharp containers and clinical waste receptacles were worth about RM130,000.

“We will also transport the items to all 28 NKF centres nationwide,” said Shukor.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahya was also present during the MoU signing.
